Enjoy a full day tour, with overnight accommodation, and experience some of the most dramatic scenery the Scottish Highlands has to offer.
From Edinburgh we travel to Linlithgow Palace, the birth place to Mary Queen of Scots, and one of the principal residences of the monarchs of Scotland in the 15th and 16th centuries. The palace is said to be haunted by the spectre of Mary of Guise, mother to Mary Queen of Scots.
After that, we will take a short ride to see The Kelpies, 30-metre-high horse head sculptures depicting Kelpies- shape shifting water spirits- in The Helix, a new parkland project built to connect 16 communities in the Falkirk Area. The sculptures are the work of Andy Scott and were completed in October 2013 and they are a monument to horse-powered heritage across Scotland.
After a tour and some light refreshments we travel to Stirling Castle. One of the largest and most important castles in Scotland, both historically and architecturally, the castle was the crowning place for several Scottish kings and queens, including Mary Queen of Scots ,in 1542. After a tour of Stirling Castle you will enjoy a freshly prepared Scottish meal while you marvel at the spectacular views from the roof top terrace.
Our final destination is The Oak Tree Inn, located in the beautiful village of Balmaha on the eastern shores of Loch Lomond. The Inn has won many top awards and is considered one of Scotland's best country pubs for food and drink. There is a great emphasis on serving quality local food and drink. The Oak Tree Inn was the first in Loch Lomond to produce home-made ice cream and roast their own coffee. This is served in St. Mocha Coffee Shop & Ice Cream Parlour, which along with a village shop sit next to The Oak Tree Inn. Your large room, located in a cottage with a private deck, has a luxury en-suite bathroom with a TV, and a lovely view towards the loch. At check-in you will receive a £100 voucher for your romantic dinner and will learn the time for the Glengoyne Distillery Tour, where you will find out a lot about whisky and have a lot of fun while you're at it.
The next morning, after breakfast we will drive back to Edinburgh, whilst taking in all the beautiful scenery that you capture and keep it with you forever.
All the admission fees, food and refreshments, accommodation and costs are included in the package. Depending on the season, tours on the Loch will be available. Other services, which are not included in the package, will be available at the destination.
